Writing a handover note that works

Every ride has two handovers. A short, clear note means your pet arrives with the right person and the right information.

Name one person at each end

Tell us who will hand your pet over and who will receive them, with a phone number for each. It might be you, a partner, a neighbor, a sitter or the team at the groomer. We only hand your pet to the person you’ve named.

Say where to stop

Which door, which gate, where we can pull in and anything that makes the doorstep calmer, like a dog next door who barks. Keep codes and keys with you and meet us at the door instead.

Write down what changes

If someone different will be at the door, or the appointment time moves, call us as soon as you know. We’ll update the handover and tell the other end what to expect.

If nobody is there

We never leave a pet at an empty address. We call the person you named, then you, and your pet stays settled in their travel space while we sort it out together.

Keep a copy

Keep a copy of your note on your phone. If anything comes up on the day, you and the person at the other end are both working from the same details.

Your next conversation

Tell us where your dog or cat is going, who will hand them over and who will meet them, or call us on (202) 555-0110. We’ll plan the ride with you.
